Airgas Carbonic, 2002
In 2002 Toromont Systems constructed a new dry ice manufacturing facility in Hopewell, Virginia for Airgas Carbonic. They selected RPC Industries to insulate these three twelve foot diameter liquid CO2 tanks, each half the length of a football field long, with six inch thick sprayed polyurethane foam and a polyurea elastomer coating system. This seamless plastic insulation system will help control the super-cold liquid nitrogen with minimum energy costs.

Virginia Cold Storage, 2001
When a local general contractor began constructing a series of refrigerated warehouses for peanut storage in Suffolk, Virginia, RPC Industries was chosen to provide an efficient insulation system for the pre-engineered steel buildings. Sprayed polyurethane foam was applied to the interior surfaces of each building (4 inches thick on the walls and 6 inches thick on the underside of the roof). This was protected with a fire-rated cellulose finish that added additional insulation value. This combination of products provided a cost effective solution for a cost conscious customer.

Metal Roof Coating Project
YMCA Hampton, Virginia

Muller Martini Manufacturing Corporation, Newport News, VA
In 1999 the Facility Staff at Muller Martini was invited to an informational seminar discussing the benefits of a Foam and Silicone Roofing System. In the year 2000 they chose to specify the system on a small roof over the computer room and offices. As in most cases once this system is installed the owners are so pleased they choose to specify the system again. This year they have budgeted for an additional 40,000 square foot of the roofing system to be installed at the facility.

Scope Arena, Norfolk, VA

The Norfolk Scope is a 12,600-seat multipurpose arena located on the edge of downtown Norfolk , Virginia . The Norfolk Scope was designed by renowned Italian architect/engineer Pier Luigi Nervi and constructed in 1968 at a cost of $28.1 million. The design of the Norfolk Scope is similar to Nervi's Palazzetto dello Sport, built in 1958 for the Olympics in Rome .  With a concrete monolithic dome measuring 440-feet in diameter, and 110-feet tall, the Norfolk Scope arena encloses 85,000 square feet.

A sprayed Polyurethane Foam roof, state-of-the-art at the time of construction, was installed over the concrete dome.  The original SPF roof system was renovated in 1989 with a Dow Corning Silicone/SPF system and continued performing exceptionally well.  The facility, which houses musical and sporting performances, underwent Audio/Visual renovations in 2006.  That renovation included hanging a rigging grid by bolting through the concrete roof deck.  RPC Industries, Inc. was contracted to patch the foam roof after the bolts were installed and then renovate and recoat the entire roof with BASF Elastocoat Silicone and Elastospray foam.  This project provided the city with a new 10 year full system warranty.

Scope Arena is a landmark of Norfolk , Virginia and has been the site of many notable civic events and concerts enjoyed by many thousands of local residents and visitors over the years.

This building is a true testament to the sustainability of Spray Polyurethane Foam.  A foam roof system has been continuously protecting Scope Arena for almost 40 years.  The roof system has been maintained over the years with few repairs and recoating.  Not only will SPF be the roof system over Scope for over half a century at a minimum, it has done so without a single leak throughout the life of the facility.
